When things don’t pan out like you originally planned, sometimes just rollin’ with the punches and making the best out of the situation is literally the only thing you can do. And this applies a lot to your wedding or elopement!

Depending on different circumstances, there are a lot of reasons why you may not get to have all the things you dream of for your wedding / elopement. Whether it’s due to family + friends, weather, distance, budget – it happens a lot. And while we don’t live in a perfect world where we can have everything we want, sometimes we’re able to compromise, and have a bit of everything we want!

Dana + Adam definitely fell into the category of making the best out of a situation that tossed their plans a bit, and decided to still experience their elopement, even if the official-ness of it already happened back home! They decided to come meet me in the mountains in Kananaskis, AB where we spent a morning hiking up a mountain to one of my favourite passes in the Kananaskis region. Narrowly missing a thunder storm, this hike had everything – some steepness at the beginning, a gorgeous blue mountain glacier lake to stop at, crossing back and forth over a creek stemming from the lake, through a gorgeous -out-of-this-world- mountain valley with peaks surrounding every view!

Because they had their legal ceremony back home, we just spent the time having a good time exchanging stories, running around the field + dancing because no one was around to watch, and even spent some time watching my dog Moose hunt for gophers and roll around in the grass!!

Dana + Adam were able to have the wedding photos they always dreamed of having, while still keeping it simple! An adventure session is perfect for this kind of situation, or even if you get to have the wedding you want, but want to spend some extra time just the two of you soaking up that ‘just married feeling’, or if there’s a certain location you’d love photos but your timeline doesn’t allow it – adventure sessions!
