HITTING ALL THE MUST SEE SPOTS
Have you ever dreamed about exploring different areas of Banff National Park, and the Alberta Rockies, but weren’t sure how?
Have you recently gotten engaged, and wanted an epic way to celebrate it?
Well my friend, this adventure session is the perfect inspiration to answer both of those questions.
What is an adventure session exactly? It’s more than your standard photo session. Its in the name: its an adventure. Completey catered to you, and geared towards what you both want out of it.
J & A had gotten engaged before the pandemic, but their destination wedding was pushed back because of – said pandemic. So they wanted to do something for themselves while they waited for their next chapter to begin. After a few messages back and forth, and some epic planning, J, A & I connected over our love of the Rockies, and exploring new places. They travelled all the way from the west coast to start this adventure at 5am at the famous Moraine Lake…
Now even with us making it to the lake before the sun came up, we almost didn’t make it 😬
Moraine Lake’s popularity has grown immensely over the last few years, so trying to make it to the very limited parking lot for sunrise is a lot more difficult than it sounds. But luckily, we made it to see this epic sunrise.
J + A have never seen Moraine Lake before, but knew they had to have it on their list of must-see places for their adventure. Luckily, I had been here a few times, and i was more than happy to be their tour guide!
f you want to see more adventures that happened at Moraine Lake, check out this epic canoe adventure session here,or another adventure session here! You can also check out some of my personal adventures at Moraine Lake here!
Moraine Lake is beautiful not only because of the lake itself, but because of the fact that there are 360 degree views all around, like this epic mountain valley behind the lake!
Its amazing how you can see the colours change as the morning grows!
So we did have a plan for their mountain adventure session, but what’s an adventure without a little spontaneity??
J + A mentioned to me how they also have never seen Lake Louise (wha !?) and since its just up the road from Moraine Lake, I said screw it- lets go! So we drove up the road and made a stop at the famous Gatorade coloured lake.
Because J & A’s original plans were affected by the pandemic, and because this adventure resulted from the pandemic, we thought why not commemorate the year with some masks?? 😂
The amazing thing about adventure session is that the adventure doesn’t have to end after one epic stop.
We planned an entire day of exploring around Banff, and other areas of the Alberta Rockies! We stopped at this famous lookout just outside of the Town of Banff, to take more of a casual break and have some fun running around the mountains..
One of our final stops of the day- Spray Lakes. We parked just along the shoreline and enjoyed a packed lunch while talking about all things life. (Ps yes- all adventure sessions come with a meal, whether we eat out or pack a lunch to go! All depends on your adventure!)
Then- we started the climb…..
The last part of this adventure was definitely a doozy, but 100% worth it. We climbed up a mountain bordering Spray Lakes and Kananaskis Country, where we could see epic views all around us of the mountains, lakes, forests and valleys!
After we reached the top, and caught our breath, J & A got changed back into their fancy clothes to get some last epic engagement photos from their adventure session.
Because their adventure was already altered so much, and they hadn’t truly celebrated their engagement yet- I surprised J & A with a bottle of champagne at the top of the mountain too! Nothing like enjoying some bubbly with epic views, and your forever person eh?
As beautiful as the views were, and as amazing as the whole adventure was, you know what the best part of this day was? The part when J & A told me that at this point, it didn’t even matter about the photos. They were so incredibly thrilled about the adventure that we had just embarked on, and were just so thankful that they were able to do this for themselves, with me as their photographer/tour guide.
