The more I grow the more I learn the different things that inspire me, especially in the outdoors. The smell of a campfire, or fresh air in a forest. The feeling when you look out at some of the most amazing views ever- all made by nature. Feeling the sun on your skin, the wind through your hair from having the windows down as you drive down a dirt road, I could go on and on. Most importantly, I also learned that...there is no need for bullsh*t; so I’m here to keep it real with y’all and am ready to capture all the real moments on your life’s adventures. So hey there pal, I’m Alicia! I’m a dog mom to my boy Moose (hence why I'm usually covered in dog hair), mountain lover, country music junkie, fresh air enthusiast, amateur snowboarder, pro drinking buddy, casual fisher girl, and constantly learning ways to improve my life + the environment around me.
I was originally raised in Ontario and constantly being sick with the travel bug, I moved permanently to Alberta SIX years ago. I grew up basically being outside all the time. Whether that was playing sports in my hometown, fishing, swimming, camping with my family up north, hiking, staying in cabins with friends - thats the one thing that's stuck with me. I bounce between the goal being building my own cabin in the woods, or wanting to own land and a farmhouse with a little wrap around deck. But either way, catch me outside - cause that's where I am as long as it's not -40
Alberta has grown into a home for me. I'm obviously obsessed with the mountains. But the longer I've lived here the more I've grown to love the off beaten track areas of Alberta - and not just in the mountains. All over! So one of my favourite things to do now is to get to show people my favourite places - and I want to learn yours. Because the more I learn about you, the easier it is for me to capture the real you.
I have a growing cowboy boot collection - I'll take any excuse to wear them
Biiiig country music fan - obviously
It's embarrasing how much I can quote The Office
..... same with Harry Potter
Furthest I've travelled is West Africa, and definitely have a lot more places on my list
Biggest goal in life right now: be able to live in a house with a yard so I can get him a brother
OMFG I LOVE YOU. THESE ARE AMAZING. They actually bring tears to my eyes. We've never had special photos like this done before, so thank you for capturing US. you did amazing, I can't thank you enough.
My 'becoming a photographer' journey has definitely been a roller coaster- constantly up and down.
I've had to revisit on how I approach my photography and how I approach this business, because I know that people's moments and memories aren't something to f*ck around with. You pay good money for something that you want to be the absolute best. AS YOU SHOULD!
So as I've grown into my photography style & who I am, I have realized that I need to get back to doing what I love- which is capturing people as they area- with as little pressure as possible.
When I say pressure, I don't mean for me - I mean for you! You can ask almost anyone that I know, I work very hard on making sure people feel comfortable - especially in situations that I've been in that I know can feel uncomfortable. So for me to be able to give that experience - there has to be freedom, trust, and honesty involved. That's easily done when it's just us!
I also want to focus back on my artistic style. I'm a big believer that lighting and editing have a big affect on what your photos will look like. But I'm an even bigger believer that the most important part about your photos is the actual experience.
My artistic style has a lot to do with feeling and warmth, rather than perfection and trends.
(about me: biiiiiiggg hater of most wedding trends. just sayin')
I love being inspired don't get me wrong. But that's just the base layer. I get real inspiration from watching people be themselves. And I get inspiration from the environment around us - vibe, colours, light, all the good stuff.
I work hard to make sure that I'm honest, and I'm 100% myself. I want you to be able to be the same, so you can see how beautiful your story is
