WITH ALYSSA + EVAN
Are you in love with the western style? Or the badlands of Alberts? Both? With a lot of hard work, and talent and creative-ness, we were able to pull off a western inspired elopement styled shoot (imagined, executed and perfect by the amazing Jackie Kalch), photographed by yours truly.
Styled shoots allow me to get super creative, because there are no barriers, there’s nothing on the line- its simply an opportunity to be able to turn something into creative moments. For this shoot, I experimented with a new camera (my nikon z6 and DAMNNN I instantly fell in love) and I also experimented with using ordinary objects to make certain effects in front of my lens. The favourite for this session- an old plastic lid from some packaging. It really helped capture he sun light and sun flares from the sun setting behind the canyon!
Drumheller is the perfect setting to host a western inspired elopement. Known as the badlands of Alberta, the badlands and canyons themselves are known for where the dinosaurs last roamed, and to this day fossils are still found! Surrounding the badlands are fields of cattle, horses, and ranches and farms where the west started growing its name!
So take a scroll on through this blog, if you’re ever looking for some inspiration for our western styled elopement of wedding. Wherever you are!
Please note: all props used for this styled shoot were ethically sourced.
Vendors are listed at the bottom!
Evan & Alissa were just simply perfect, and embraced being able to show their love for each other even through a styled shoot, not a real elopement. but they were happy to help us show what you could do if you wanted to have a western styled elopement in the badlands of Alberta!
They fully embraced the summer night, as we explored above, and inside Horseshoe Canyon, located outside of Drumheller, Alberta.
PS- if you’re ever interested in modelling for a styled shoot hosted by me, inquire here and I’ll add you to my list of names! Getting to attend other styled shoots (this one again, hosted by the amazing Jackie Kalch) has inspired me to do some of my own!
