WITH KIM + DREW
Yeah, it get’s pretty damn cold in Alberta. But doesn’t mean it’s not damn BEAUTIFUL! And there are periods in the winter where the temperatures are bearable, and the views are stunning.
And winter comes early in Alberta- but depends where you are. This day in Calgary, it was a beautiful fall day since this was the end of October. But clearly you can see in the mountains it was completely different! One thing to know about Alberta– the weather is straight up whack. And different all the time. So prepare for anything, but embrace it anyway!
Kim & Drew met me in a sweet lil, spot in Sheep River Provincial Park, where we agreed to have their engagement session! Again, we didn’t expect THIS much snow, but we embraced it! And still made a plan for them to have a little charcuterie picnic with an epic mountain view!
Kim & Drew are so excited for their biggest adventure yet, they connected with me right away for their engagement session, and we’ve got their wedding in 2023! You could tell they were both just full of excitement, and just so in love with each other. I was also super pumped they were down for a winter adventure, because a lot of people prefer the summer and fall in the rockies! But winter is damn beautiful! If you want to check out another winter session, click here. You can also check a sick retro ski session here!
Please see above for reference when I mention the term “embrace it”.
As we were exploring in and out of the forested area, I noticed a heard of Rocky Mountain Sheep climbing out of the canyon in front of the area we were just at! Of course, because we want to follow guidelines of Leave No Trace, we kept out distance, but I was still able to sneak in a couple snaps of the moment!

Now as most of my couples know, the more personal we can make your session/elopement, the better! And I always send out a little questionnaire to get to know you a little more personally so I can see what we can include (you can learn more about the experience here). So after getting to know each other more and more, I learned that Kim & Drew loved to have charcuterie dates once in a while. so I said hey, I know a good spot, I’ll bring a blanket and the tunes, and you bring what you want- let’s do the damn thing. And we did! And honestly even sitting in the snow, this was one of the cutest dates I’ve gotten to witness.
