WITH JACKIE + MATT
A session to celebrate the life they built in Alberta- you really can do a session for whatever reason you want!
I am so happy I’ve gotten to know Jackie and Matt through mutual friends of ours, and SO happy they let me photograph them in a place where they built such an amazing life!
Might sound cheesy but I can totally relate. Like myself, Jackie + Matt are both from Ontario, and had moved to Alberta. They had a plan to move back to Ontario, but wanted memories to showcase their Alberta home, and how much they love the mountains. They’re proof that you really can have a session done for any reason you want. You can celebrate whatever part of your life you want, and its totally valid to wanna have photos to remember those adventures.
We decided to drive to Banff from Calgary later in the day, to get a little more privacy- not to mention it was the beginning of summer when they days feel a little longer cause the sun is out, and I mean that is such a nice feeling. I won’t lie- we actually had a different plan set up for the evening, but after seeing that trail were blocked and it looked a little busier than expected- we pulled out a last minute idea, and drove to Vermillion Lakes. Definitely no regrets on this plan- it was totally their vibe!!
Jackie + Matt had made Albetra home- and knew it would be difficult to leave. But they also knew that its a place they would always come back to visit because it meant so much to them.
Because the night felt just so perfect, I pulled out another idea. I had found this spot by accident one day while hiking with my dog Moose and always thought that it would be perfect to do a session. We were having too much fun and the night was too nice to call it quits. So we made a stop at this perfect little mountain-side.
Perfect weather, perfect spot, perfect pair, perfect day- the list goes on.
This wasn’t the first time I had done a little adventure with Jackie + Matt. We have done a winter session as well. I knew when they had asked to do another session that we were gunna have such a fun time again, but I felt especially honoured when they said they BOTH had such an amazing time, and wanted to use these photos to help remember their home. Do you know how awesome that feels?! To be asked to capture someones special moments and memories of their life!? God DAMN! Just one of the reasons I’ve always loved being a photographer.
These two were two of the first people to welcome me to the Rockies, and they’re two kick-ass people that I feel so happy to know!
Honestly wish them nothing but the best as they move back east, but also know they’ll be back soon to the mountains- and I can’t wait!
If you ever need a reason to get a session done- I’m here to tell you that whatever reason you come up with is good enough- and I’d be happy to hear all your amazing dreams for exploring a bit of the rockies!
